Hi all,

apologies for not explaining before, despite being a voluntary sector
techie, I often assume too much knowledge, so an explanation is
necessary. The list is working as it should do, as the
finance&treasurers mailing list is set up as mailing list forum, a
sort of virtual discussion forum to complement any real world
activity.

Rather than being a distribution or announcement list it allows anyone
who is a member to have a ongoing email discussion with all the other
members.

What this means is that if you send an email to
finance&treasurers at lists.voscur.org then that mail is automatically
distributed to all the other members of the list with the return
address of finance&treasurers at lists.voscur.org, so that if you just
hit reply then that too is distributed to ALL the members.

If you just want to reply to ONE person (i.e the sender) you should
manually replace the default address with the address of the person
who you want to receive the mail.

Mailing lists have the advantage that you can manage whether you want
to be a member or not - in this case the list management page is
http://lists.voscur.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/finance&treasurers
This link is automatically added at the bottom of every single mail
sent out through the list.
You can also manage whether you receive individual mail or a daily summary.

The second advantage is that all posts to the list are archived so you
can retrieve old discussions from the web -
http://lists.voscur.org/pipermail/finance&treasurers/

If you have any other problems with the list, please ask. Either mail
me directly at seank at voscur.org or post to the list (where other
people who might have similar questions might benefit).
