Bristol Black Archives Partnership (BBAP) has only a small range of people put forward for the 2009 calendar.  A good number and range of black people were picked for both the 2007 and 2008 calendars and BBAP would like to repeat this success! The idea of the calendar is to profile black people who have made (and those that still continue to do so) a positive contribution to community, education, health, business, charity,community and many more areas.

Thursday 04 December (9.30am - 3.30pm). At Barton Hill Settlement, 43 Ducie Road, Barton Hill, Bristol BS5 0AX Trainer:Janet Roberts - Tendering for Care. Do you need hints and tips for successful tendering? Then this one-day workshop will help you. It will: Set out legislation and the tendering process, explain how tenders are scored, offer numerous hints and tips for successful tendering.

MENTAL HEALTH AND SPIRITUALITY CONFERENCE (9.30am - 4.00pm)
This conference will begin to explore the relationship between mental health and spirituality, a relationship which psychiatrists have only recently begun to accept as significant. It will also begin to address specifically how the church can engage with

>> Freemasons Grand Charity - Non-Masonic grants: 4 grant streams offering up to £50,000 to registered charities working with young or vulnerable people or engaging in medical research.  3 application rounds each year, with the next deadline being 28th November.

>> BBC Children in Need have a new online application process and 4 deadlines instead of 2 each year.

>> SITA Green Prints Programme: grants of up to £10,000 to enable young people aged 16-25 to make a difference to their communities.  Application deadline 15th December.

+++ SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS SEEK PLACEMENTS +++
Suitable agencies are being sought to take students from the University of the West of England. Students are due to go out on placement from the 11 February 2009. The placements are for 35 days, 3 days a week, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.  There is a payment from the University of £28 a day.
