SMOKE FREE HOMES (closes 12 Nov 2007)
Recent news reports have suggested that the smoking ban in England has helped cut smoking with around half of all smokers now smoking less than before the ban. The LNF aims to help children (aged 0-19 years) in poverty to achieve their potential through the work of local community and voluntary groups. Applications must address one of the following four themes: Aspirations and experiences; Economic disadvantage; Isolation and access; and Children's voices.
Area: West of England (Bristol, Bath & North East Somerset, North Somerset, South Gloucestershire).
The maximum grant is £7,000 and the closing date for the fund is 21 September 2007.

Google has created a black-screen version of its search engine (which they state saves energy), which we flagged up in last weeks ebulletin. Just to let you know, we have subsequently found out that Blackle only uses less energy when you use CRT screens (the bulkier older style of monitor) - no energy is saved it using the newer flat LCD screens. http://www.blackle.com
