The First Generation - From Slavery to Saloon featuring The KUUMBA Project Dancers, Steve Graham - trumpet and  mandolin and Mike Denham - piano. Tracing the links between the slave trade and 20th Century popular music.  Centred on the Ragtime era, their programme takes in Jazz Classics by Louis Armstrong and Bix Beiderbeck,  8-to-the-bar boogie-woogie and gentle ballards. ST DAVID'S CENTRE OPEN DAY & OPENING OF RESOURCE LIBRARY (10:00m-3:00pm)
Join local residents, schools and environmental organisations in an event to highlight the work of CSV  Environment in Bristol, and explore the range of facilities at the St David's Centre, Queen's Road,  Bishopsworth, Bristol. Find out about the projects and services on offer, from practical landscaping with  Hartwood Enterprises to the Older People's Gardening Project. There will be the official opening of the  environmental resource library, which is packed full of educational and practical tools and equipment for use  in activities by the local community. BRISTOL'S RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SLAVE TRADE - GUIDED WALK (2:00-4:00pm)
Led by Elvyn Griffiths.  Fee £5 per person. This walk will look at Bristol's involvement with the slave trade  from Roman times to the Saxons; from Elizabethan adventurers to the notorious triangular trade of the 17th,  18th and early 19th Centuries.  Areas will be visited where ships were built or altered to accommodate the  enslaved as well as looking at where the slave business was conducted. ASIAN ARTS AGENCY PRESENTS RAJASTHANI SUFI MUSIC AND DANCE (8:00-10:30pm)
Held at St. Georges Bristol, Great George Street, Bristol, BS1 5RR. This group of traditional folk musicians  from the colourful deserts of Western Rajasthan perform the vocal compositions of the great Sufi poets. Their  voices are accompanied by the beautiful sarangi and kamenche (bowed stringed instruments), vibrant percussion  and by stunning kalbelia dancers. BRISTOL'S RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SLAVE TRADE - ABOLITION 200 GUIDED WALK (2:00-4:00pm)

Refugee Week provides a platform, where positive images of refugees can be promoted in order to create a  culture of welcome throughout the UK. The aim is to create better understanding between different communities  and to encourage successful cohesion enabling refugees to live in safety and to continue making a valuable  contribution to the UK. In Bristol, there will be a range of cultural, social, artistic and educational  events. Music, dance, visual arts, poetry, debate and discussion events are planned for this week, offering an  opportunity for everyone to come together at different locations around the City.
