*** NEW GOVERNMENT WHITE PAPER - STRONG & PROSPEROUS COMMUNITITES' ***
The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has published the long awaited Local Government White Paper 2006 - 'Strong and Prosperous Communities'. The White Paper sets out a range of proposals designed to strengthen local communities - devolving more responsibility to local authorities, but with a duty on them to cooperate with other statutory partners at the local level, and also to engage with other partners including the voluntary & community sector. *** CHARITIES BILL UPDATE ***
The provisional date for the Bill to return to the House of Lords (to allow the Lords to consider amendments made in the House of Commons) is 7 November. NEW DRAFT VOLUNTARY AND COMMUNITY SECTOR INVESTMENT STRATEGY
Bristol City Council has published a new draft Voluntary and Community Sector Investment Strategy. This will be submitted to Cabinet on 9th November.  Any comments on this strategy to be considered by Cabinet must be submitted by 12 noon on 8th November.
