Message-ID: Dear All I currently serve on two main groups on behalf of VOSCUR on the Safer Bristol Partnership Safer Bristol Partnership Executive This has overall responsibility for the reduction of crime in Bristol and community safety. It also manages work to reduce problematic drug use and treat users. The overall reduction in crime is 20%+ over three years - this is very difficult to achieve given the increase in some types of crime. Its main work is to monitor the success of the work commissioned by the Partnership and other partners and to make broad strategic decisions. Chair is Cllr Gary Hopkins. The SBP acts as the Crime and Drugs delivery group of the Bristol Partnership. The SBP generally works far more effectively The group meets 10 times per year on the last Thursday of the month. NEXT MEETING 2-pm -4pm 26.7.06. Will send to this list anything interesting before and after the meeting. Will also consult on any policy issues. Community Safety Joint Commissioning Group This group meets about eight times a year to decide the spending of two major funding streams from the Government. Its worth about 2.2 million in total. A lot is allocated to Police interventions and to existing projects. I have been working for several years to make this process more accessible and I hope that soon there will be evidence of open commissioning to fund actions to meet the agreed crime reduction targets. Note: Drugs and Alcohol work is mainly funded by the equivalent "drugs commissioning group", but the two are due to merge ( probably) even though I and others feel it's agenda will be unwieldy. NEXT MEETING 9am-12pm 18.7.06. Will send to this list anything interesting before and after the meeting. Will also consult on any policy issues. Note: Last Friday I attended the farewell to Mike Roe, until recently Police Commander for Bristol. His replacement is Kay Wozniak, who has now been in post for some time Please contact me if you have any comments or questions David Maggs 0117 9557430 5.6.06 My access to email is limited at present, I apologise in advance for delays.
